How the Air Hockey Game Table was Designed
After failed attempts by a few people making frictionless game tables in 1972, a Bob Lemieux picked up the idea again. The first engineers had a base idea, but they’d just about given up on it. But Bob was dedicated. He based his version of the game on hockey, and at first played it with a puck and mallets but he got it to work. The 1st air hockey table, with its vents of low flowing air, removed almost all of the friction from the equation. It hit the market like a typhoon. Each bar, club, and colonnade wanted an air hockey game table. The sport is still popular today and smaller versions are made for people to use in their homes.
