Hiking In Rock Mountain National Park Can Be Demanding
Rocky Mountain National Park offers more than 350 miles of hiking trails and Bear Lake is a very popular starting point for many visitors. Situated at the base of Hallett’s Peak at the Continental Divide, you will find that Bear Lake itself is a wonderful sight. You need to be aware however that hiking in the park can be a little bit more demanding than in many other parks as elevations range from 7,500 feet up to 14,000 feet and, at these heights, the air is thin and the UV is strong. So, you will need to be prepared and take plenty of water with you because the thin and cool air will evaporate moisture quite quickly and you will soon have a headache if you do not drink sufficient water. This however is a small price to pay for the magnificent views of the park and so, if you have not tried hiking here before, slip on those newly purchased discount hiking boots and head off for a great day of hiking.
