When You Can’t Afford a Lawyer

With the significant costs associated with going through a divorce, many parents have limited resources left to deal with a pending custody battle.  This outs them in the difficult position of representing themselves at the custody hearing.  This is not to say that you can’t win without a family law professional, but failing to understand even the smallest aspect of the legal process can be detrimental to your case.  Researching all aspects of the court system and maintaining accurate financial and visitation records is vitally important.  If you feel confident in representing yourself for child custody proceedings, then you can make it work.  Just don’t forget to do your research before your hearing.
