Telling that to a twelve-year old boy holding a football isn’t a good way to win your point. However, my mom was never really good at timing. I managed to duck out the door before it got worse, but I knew that the bell was tolling on my sports career. Even Dad caved in with, “Just give learning how to play the piano a try. It’ll make your mom happy.” Now I’ve been giving it a try for about ten years. I discovered that making music was anything but boring. What I didn’t want to try turned out to be my career. Today, I teach piano as well as play in an orchestra. I find myself saying, “You’ll love learning how to play the piano.”
