Some Techniques to Create an Incredible Pastel Painting
To add more clarity and appeal to your pastel painting, use dry and solid pastel paint on the canvas. The advantage is that they blend well on the white canvas of the painting as opposed to the oil and acrylic based working surface.
For smoothening out the working canvas, use brush, water, cloth and finger. Initially, spray or sprinkle little dots of paints on the canvas. It allows your eyes to adjust to the blended scheme of colors. Always use hard pastels to define the outlines of the character. Use soft pastels for large coverage on the canvas.
